Splinterlands Game Review
Splinterlands is a decentralized online digital card game developed by the Hive Network. It resembles blockchain games like Hearthstone, Legends of Runeterra, Yu-Gi-Oh (Yu-Gi-Oh!), and Magic: The Gathering.
Splinterlands was originally launched on Steem in May 2018 under the original name ‘Steem Monsters.’ It was later renamed ‘Splinterlands’ by its developers in April 2019.
It is a game with a unique technique called “auto battlers.” For every match, you’ll take on a rival in a single-elimination tournament. The winner of every match is awarded an award depending on how well they perform.
To play Splinterlands, you have to sign-up by visiting splinterlands.com, downloading the app, and registering using your mobile device. Splinterlands is playable on both the web and mobile devices.
Game Mechanics
Splinterlands is a mobile NFT game in which players can choose game modes such as practice, rank, and challenge.
Players must participate in competitive battles and be successful in the game’s ranking mode to earn rewards. If a player decides to fight and fight, the game matches them with a player with the same or similar ability. This ensures that the pairings are fair.
After the matchup is identified, the screen will instruct the players to create seven cards. The deck consists of one summoner card and six monster cards, arranged according to the order of the game. Monsters can be melee or ranged and able to have their attack damage statistics.
Strategies and collection of cards are crucial because the rules of every game in Splinterlands are determined by chance.
For lower levels, the rules often shift, changing the amount of mana that players can earn throughout each battle. Every card has an associated mana cost that must be paid for to play. Mana limits differ and prevent players from employing the same strategy or deck for every game.
At a higher level, rule modifications typically include a limit on mana and the ban of certain summoners, decks, or abilities. This adds greater challenges for the most skilled players in the game.
The person who wins the duel is awarded experience points and gold coins. Gold coins purchase things like scrolls, potions, and runes. Experience points let you advance your level and unlock higher-quality equipment.
Splinterlands Card
Splinter cards are the most important element in the game. Four cards are available in Splinterlands: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.
The cards can be used to create strategies and compete with other gamers. There are numerous kinds of decks, all having distinct gameplay. Certain cards provide additional resources, while others allow you to take on enemies, and others allow you to defend yourself.
Cards can be roughly categorized into Summoners, Monsters, and “item & spell” cards. Each Summoner and Monster is associated with one of seven “splinters.” The Splinters are comparable to the elemental groups to which each card belongs.
Rentals
In addition to buying in-game cards from the marketplace, players can rent them. This is made possible by the delegation function of the Hive blockchain. This allows assets to be allocated to different users on the Blockchain.
However, rental cards are subject to limitations. For instance, they can’t be sold, combined, or transferred; however, they can be used within games and add to players’ total CP.
Summoner’s Spellbook
You’ll likely want to use your free non-NFT beginning deck to rank if you’ve played several practice matches.
While you can play Splinterlands crypto game without spending money, a Summoner’s Spellbook is required to unlock the game’s rewards system. Before purchasing, new players can play a few free matches.
The Summoner’s Spellbook is a one-time purchase through cryptocurrency or PayPal. After the purchase, all features of the game that include purchasing cards as well as making use of certain features within the game becomes accessible.
It’s not a Spellbook; it’s an account card for membership. The principal benefit of purchasing the Spellbook is the creation of accounts on Hive. Hive blockchain. That means the tokens and NFTs you receive are safe in the account.
Splinterlands Tokenomics
This digital card battle game utilizes dark energy crystal (DEC) as a form of cryptocurrency based on Ethereum. DEC is earned through completing challenges and getting rewards. They can be exchanged with other digital assets such as ETH, ERC20 tokens, or fiat currencies.
It is possible to earn Dark Energy crystals by beating opponents in matches. They can be used to purchase cards, advance your character, buy packs and potions packed with powerful cards, or purchase booster packs.
Booster packs are made up of various cards randomly drawn from an assortment of cards. They are used to construct your deck and assist you in winning matches.
DECs are traded on Splinterlands’ marketplace and secondary markets such as peakmonsters.com (Hive chain) and AtomicHub (Wax blockchain).
Splintershards (SPS)
Splintershards, or SPS, is a BEP-20 Splinterlands governance token. Token holders of the SPS can vote on the DAO’s proposal by staking their SPS. Every staked SPS token is equivalent to one vote. Therefore, the greater the number of SPS tokens, the more influence they’ll have over the voting results.
Splinterlands Credits (Credits)
Credits are comparable to DEC. Credits, however, cannot be traded on secondary marketplaces. They are redeemable at the Splinterlands marketplace for packs and other items.
Credits serve as the game’s closed-loop internal money.
Splinterlands has rebalanced its referral or affiliate system by awarding ‘Credits’ to users as a portion of its commission payout. This stops malevolent actors from mass-dumping or gaming the affiliate system. Each credit earned is used to purchase packs or rent cards in the marketplace.
Play-to-earn with Splinterlands
Tokens are earned in many ways, such as daily missions, winning matches, season rewards, and having a place on the leaderboard.
Daily quests award players tokens depending on how they complete them. Weekly challenges reward tokens based on the number of losses and wins, and the events of the season award tokens based on the number of participants.
Furthermore, every participant receives a certain amount of DEC by completing daily quests. This token is used to purchase weapons, cosmetics, and equipment. Every week, players take on quests to earn DEC tokens.
The quests typically involve fighting off enemies or fulfilling certain tasks, while some require certain items. For instance, players must overcome 50 enemies in one game to earn.
